Name Resolver
Resolve a list of fern and lycophyte species names against the current PPG classification: names are matched to PPG (allowing for minor spelling and author-citation differences), and synonyms are resolved to their accepted names. Matching is done by the taxastand R package, which runs entirely in your browser (via webR). Your names are never sent to a server.

Notes
- The first visit downloads the R runtime and packages (a few tens of MB), which your browser then caches. Only the PPG data for the genera in your list is downloaded.
- Only the species name and, optionally, authors need to be given; infraspecific names (e.g. Genus species var. variety) are supported. Names with only a genus cannot be resolved.
- Fuzzy matching only happens within a genus: if the genus is misspelled, the name is reported as “genus not found”, with suggestions.
- Match type values are those of taxon-tools (
exact,auto_punct,auto_fuzzy, …).no_matchmeans no name in PPG was close enough. If a name matches several names that resolve to different accepted names (e.g. the same name published by different authors), it is listed as “multiple hits” and left unresolved; use “Show all” to see each hit. - Names given without authors are matched with authors ignored if the full-name match fails, so that small spelling differences are still found.
- Always check fuzzy matches (
auto_fuzzy) before using them.
